....that 37 million pounds of pesticides and over 2 billion pounds of fertilizer—many of which contain chemicals that cause cancer, brain defects, & reproductive problems—are used by agricultural operations in Washington State each year?
....that each year Washington State provides $50 million in tax breaks for these chemicals, but almost no money for research into alternatives?
It’s time for a change.
Here's a simple step in a positive direction: close all or part of the $50 million tax loophole and use that money to help farmers transition to healthier practices by reducing their use of pesticides and fertilizers.
